This is open freestyle riding so you can forget miles of barren wasteland and tight tunnel racers. This game is for people who would enjoy doing tricks on a great variety of jumps and rails on wide open mountain runs.
So you're basically focusing on tricks and earning credibility in the snowboarding world rather than racing goals. A nice touch is that the mountains are alive with crashing boarders, flying pros and roaming photographers so there is always an lively atmosphere.
Amped's main mode is a career one that starts you out as a totally unknown snowboarder with only a handful of objectives available. The aim of the game is to get media coverage and rise through the snowboarding ranks, eventually becoming a pro rider who is featured on magazine covers and TV.
You can make your gameplay choices while on the mountain rather than in a disjointed menu screen. So the game is always flowing and it makes you want to carry on.
Jump between 120 different runs packed with rails, kickers and half-pipes, each with six unique challenges, hidden areas and a rotating stream of spectators, for a different ride every time. Experience true freestyle multiplayer-when not showing-off, players can taunt or throw snowballs at friends in freestyle multiplayer competitions.
Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding is the first snowboarding game focused on freestyle riding down real mountains. Jib and spin off of a huge variety of jumps and rails for a different ride every time. Players pull insane tricks in front of roaming sponsors and camera crews to get their face on magazine covers and in videos. The game’s goal is simple: achieve enough international exposure to become one of the world’s snowboarding media superstars.
You'll also earn sponsors by going on sponsor runs. Each sponsor has a different favorite trick type, such as spins, flips, or grinds. A meter at the top of the screen shows the sponsor's current interest in your run. As you do tricks that they like, they'll become more and more likely to sponsor you. Wrecking causes the meter to drop.
Aside from the career mode, Amped has a quick start mode and alternating multiplayer contests for up to four players.
Amped will feature 17 snowboarders as default although you'll also be allowed to customize your own rider. Aside from your rider's general appearance and clothes etc. you'll also be able to select boards and your stance :)
You can also adjust several different stats, which increase as your rider's career continues. All in all a pretty cool game.
