Pearl Harbor

A poor film with shallow characters and bad acting. The big scene pyrotechnics are spectacular, go and see it for that if not nothing else. Overall rating:

Pearl Harbor Directed by Michael Bay Cast: Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Colm Feore, Alec Baldwin, Andrew Bryniarski, Greg Baine, Garret Sato. It was the end of innocence, and the dawn of a nation's greatest glory. Pearl Harbor follows the story of two best friends, Rafe and Danny, and their love lives as they go off to join the war This movie is written by Randall Wallace, the same person that wrote Braveheart. You might think this film is going to be a huge hit, think again, he also wrote Man in the Iron Mask which was atrocious. Like The Man in the Iron Mask this film has a great cast, its just a shame that Director Michael Bay did not do a good job of using them. Studio Execs in Hollywood think there is no way this big budget script will fail. It is a lock for the best picture, all the technical awards, sets, costumes, screenplay, and director. Even though Bay's talent is questionable at best even he can not screw this up, no matter how hard he might try, (thats what they thought anyway). They have to understand loud audio, quick edditing and monsterous specialeffects does not make a "best picture". (Even though Gladiator proved us wrong last year.) The writing and story have to be there first to make the viewers care about the characters.
